On May 16th, We Rock the Spectrum – Sydney West opened its doors to families in the Sydney West community for NDIS Supported Private Facility Hire Sessions! It is the second location to open in Australia. Despite current global pandemic circumstances, this much-needed service has been deemed an Essential Service by NSW Health. It is providing a safe space for We Rockers in need of sensory play, regulation, and respite during COVID-19 and this time of isolation.

 

Maritza and Luis Aguirre are the new owners of We Rock the Spectrum – Sydney West. As parents of a daughter diagnosed with autism, they always wanted to create a space where children with special needs and their families could feel like they belonged. We Rock the Spectrum provided that space and they are excited to be able to give other families and their children an all-inclusive space to call their own. 

Throughout the day, NDIS participating families from one household were able to enjoy the sensory facility in 1- to 3-hour long sessions. Children had the opportunity to try the new Zip Line, swings, rock wall, and other exciting sensory equipment. 

To ensure every We Rocker’s safety, the Sydney West staff took extra safety measures at their gym. They fully sanitised between each session, and everyone entering the facility was screened for COVID-19 risks and required to wear masks and gloves. 

Especially during this time, we thank the Sydney West community for supporting We Rock the Spectrum! We are so excited to see what Maritza, Luis, and their We Rock team have in store for We Rock the Spectrum – Sydney West NSW as restrictions ease.
