We Rock the Spectrum – Geelong VIC Now Open

June 10, 2020 | In: Uncategorized

On June 6thWe Rock the Spectrum – Geelong VIC officially opened its sensory facility for open play sessions, NDIS supported private hire sessions, and respite options to the Geelong community! What a week it’s been!

Minh & Danni Gazzara are the new owners of We Rock the Spectrum – Geelong. They are the proud parents of Caitlin (24), Pax (9), and Coco (8). Their son, Pax, was diagnosed with autism at the age of 5 when his daycare educators noticed his difficulties in play and socialization. Minh and Danni quickly learned about their son’s autism by attending information sessions, therapy classes, sensory programs, and consulting with other parents. When they were introduced to We Rock the Spectrum (WRTS) by a family friend, they immediately knew that they wanted to create an inclusive space like WRTS for their own community. They are excited to provide a space where siblings, like Pax and Coco, and families can strengthen their relationships and spend quality time together.

Throughout the day, NDIS participating families from one household were able to enjoy the sensory facility freely in alternating sessions. Children had the chance to run, jump, climb, slide, swing, and have fun! Even a popular special needs mum blogger, Celebrate the Spectrum, and her sons came out to experience sensory play at the Geelong gym. She said, “It’s a very calm place designed to support sensory needs. My boys had a great time! We recommend it!”

In accordance with strict COVID-19 practices, the Geelong staff took extra safety measures at their gym. They fully sanitized between each session, and everyone entering the facility was screened for COVID-19 risks and encouraged to practice social distancing.

A huge thank you to the Geelong community for supporting We Rock the Spectrum! We look forward to providing a safe space for We Rockers in need of sensory play, regulation, and respite. Gather a small crew for a Private Session or join one of our Open Play sessions for sensory-beneficial fun! We can’t wait to see you soon!
