When she created We Rock the Spectrum, one of Dina’s dreams was to teach her son, Gabriel, about work experience by giving him a job at the gym. Dina did not imagine the huge impact her gyms would have on employment in the special needs community. Parents began asking if their children could volunteer and some of the volunteers even turned into employees. We Rock the Spectrum has became more than just a sensory-safe kid’s gym; its become a platform for special needs employment.

In the interview, Dina talks about Nicole, who has autism and is the manager of We Rock the Spectrum – Agoura Hills. Nicole first started at We Rock the Spectrum as a volunteer at Dina’s gym in Tarzana, CA. After working her way up from volunteer to employee, Nicole was thrilled to accept a position as manager for the gym in Agoura Hills.

“At first we had some difficulties so we sat down and talked about what we both needed and everything changed for the better,” said Dina. “She has worked so hard to get where she is today. Nicole is a true inspiration.”

Dina believes in giving all people, especially those who might otherwise not get the opportunity, the chance to work. Being a business owner is more than just about the well-being of your company, but also society. She frequently advocates this belief to her many We Rock the Spectrum franchise owners.

“I am so happy that We Rock the Spectrum is able to give people who are on the spectrum a chance at employment,” said Dina.
