A Decade of WRTS: We Rock the Spectrum Celebrates its First Corporate Office

August 1, 2020 | In: Events , News , Why We Rock

As We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym approaches its 10-year anniversary, we are taking a look back on all of our greatest moments. Today, we reminisce on a special occasion in We Rock the Spectrum’s history: the opening of our west coast Corporate Office, marking the start of the We Rock the Spectrum franchise.

Following the opening of We Rock the Spectrum – Tarzana in 2010, Dina immediately knew her mission became bigger than her gym, than her Tarzana community. Within weeks of her opening, numerous parents of special needs children reached out to Dina expressing how much it meant to have a place where they felt safe while others asked when she was opening a gym in their states. Steadily, a concept she started in her home became a national movement that Dina couldn’t ignore.

Countless hours were spent planning right outside her gym, from marketing to potential opportunities for growth. During this time, she licensed We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym to seven locations around Southern California. But Dina didn’t stop there. She knew in order to reach new heights, she had to take her business to the next level.

On the doorsteps of her flagship gym, the We Rock the Spectrum franchise was born and it grew quickly each day. By December 2013, Dina had sold her first franchise in Boca Raton, FL, reaching a whole new community of families. Soon thereafter in early 2014, she started a non-profit, My Brother Rocks the Spectrum Foundation, to provide assistance to families with special needs children.

The We Rock the Spectrum’s Corporate Office opened its doors for the first time on April 29th, 2014, ushering in a huge wave of momentum for the franchise. By the end of 2014, the We Rock the Spectrum franchise had grown to 20 locations. And within two years, We Rock the Spectrum opened its first international location in Ara Damansara, Malaysia. Today, the We Rock the Spectrum franchise is the fastest-growing international franchise of sensory gyms with 85 locations–and counting.

This grand opening ceremony was the first of many to come, but it was a particularly special celebration. In addition to family members and loved ones, representatives from the Mayor’s office, City Council, California State Assembly, and Chamber of Commerce came from all around Southern California to experience this joyous moment. Many of We Rock the Spectrum’s partners, such as ATAK Interactive and Lewit Hackman, also came out to show their support.

At the grand opening ceremony, We Rock the Spectrum’s nonprofit, My Brother Rocks the Spectrum Foundation, launched its first public fundraiser as well. Teaming up with McDonald’s, My Brother Rocks the Spectrum Foundation raised funds to provide social skills groups, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and activities to children across the spectrum.

Since opening its corporate office in 2014, We Rock the Spectrum continues to grow rapidly. Each day, the We Rock family grows bigger and the mission of being “a place where you never have to say I’m sorry!®” grows exponentially stronger. With all this growth achieved within the last 10 years, we can’t wait to see what the next decade has in store for We Rock the Spectrum!
