On Saturday, June 20th, We Rock the Spectrum – Milwaukee celebrated their official opening with the Milwaukee community! This opening was particularly special since it was the first U.S. We Rock the Spectrum grand opening since March and is also the first location for Wisconsin. During this time, We Rock the Spectrum – Milwaukee will be offering private sessions, low capacity open play sessions, and respite to children of ALL abilities and their families.

Linda Niemela is the new owner of We Rock the Spectrum – Milwaukee. She is a licensed pediatric physical therapist dedicated to providing therapy to children with a variety of developmental disorders. In 1999, she opened her own private practice, Tender Touch Therapy, LLC., that continues to deliver outpatient pediatric therapy today. It has always been a career dream of Linda’s to be able to offer a play space where children in Southeastern Wisconsin can work on developing their play skills and sensory regulation in a safe and nurturing environment. She is excited to offer this amazing experience to her patients, their families, and the whole Milwaukee community.

To ensure the safety of their We Rockers, all participants had to undergo temperature checks before entering the gym. They were also asked to take off their shoes and sanitize their hands to limit the chance of exposure. Staff and parents were required to wear masks and social distance. Throughout the day and in-between sessions, the gym was cleaned and disinfected by cleaners according to EPA and CDC standards.

All Milwaukee We Rockers had the chance to enjoy the sensory facility and all its equipment in alternating sessions. During each session, the participants had access to the entire space to engage in sensory play and have fun!
