Rockin’ Resource Fair Provides Support and Fun in the Special Needs Community

A Free, Inclusive Event for Autism Awareness Month
The mission in starting We Rock the Spectrum has always been to unite ALL families, regardless of their circumstances. When CEO and Founder, Dina Kimmel, founded We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym in 2010, it was because she saw that special-needs families, like her own, did not have a safe place to bring ALL of their children. Creating a free resource fair to unite local families is just one more way that We Rock the Spectrum helps provide for our community.
Our community needs a day for ALL of our Southern California families to come together and experience companionship, education, and love. We Rock the Spectrum is committed to leading by example and stepping in as the solution to this void.

On April 6th, 2025, between 9am and 1pm, the Rockin’ Resource Fair made it a special Sunday morning for special needs and neurodiverse families across Southern California. Hosted by We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym, the event was its biggest yet, bringing in over 70 vendors, entertainment, and resources all in one easy-to-reach location — and the best part? It was an entirely free event for families to attend.
Hosted in honor of Autism Awareness Month, the fair was meant to be a comfortable, welcoming setting in which families of neurodiverse children and children with autism were able to find out what was offered in terms of services, programs, and products. Emphasized was connection — connection between businesses and families, and between individuals who recognize what it is like to raise and care for neurodiverse children.
Vendors & Resources for Every Need
Vendors representing occupational therapists, ABA professionals, speech pathologists, schools, sensory-product creators, and other professionals specializing in special needs support attended the Rockin’ Resource Fair. Whether you are a parent seeking direction or a teacher or caregiver in need of new resources, the fair had a diverse assortment of options to choose among. It also spotlighted the power of the We Rock the Spectrum franchise community and its role as a leader in the kids fitness franchise industry.
Fun Beyond the Resources: Entertainment for All
But it wasn’t all about the resources – it was also about having a blast. Children were treated to bounce houses, balloon twisting, and even a live show of magic. The hit of the day? A reptile station where children were able to get in close contact with some really interesting animals in a sensory-safe environment. Music was played continuously throughout the day, infusing the atmosphere with happiness and a sense of leisure, and there were plenty of snack stands to keep everyone energized while walking among the booths.
Why Events Like the Rockin’ Resource Fair Matter
We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym, which provides its all-inclusive sensory gym for children of all ability levels, developed the Rockin’ Resource Fair as a means of giving back to the community and bringing together families with the support and joy that they are deserving of. The mission of the gym is to provide a safe environment in which neurodiverse children may play, learn, and grow — and that was reflected in every aspect of the event.
For these families, moments like these are a lifeline. Having a child with special needs or autism can be a lonely experience, and discovering the right resources can be truly overwhelming. Rockin’ Resource Fair provided both functional support and emotional connection, a sense of community in which everyone felt noticed, heard, and valued.
Throughout Autism Awareness Month, the Rockin’ Resource Fair was a shining testament to what can be achieved when the community comes together. It was greater than a fair — it was a celebration of neurodiversity, inclusion, and that every child can flourish. Events like these demonstrate the impact of a mission-driven indoor playground franchise and the strength of the We Rock the Spectrum franchise network.
Whether you were there for the resources or the reptiles, everyone left with something worthwhile — and likely a balloon animal or two. If you’re looking into a playground franchise or exploring the We Rock the Spectrum franchise cost, this event offered a glimpse into the joy and fulfillment that comes with being part of this transformative kids franchise.
