OMAHA, Neb. (KPTM) – A playground that caters to children who are on the autism spectrum had its grand-opening celebration Saturday as they welcomed parents and their children to try it out for themselves.

Owners of the gym, Sarah and David Ullsperger, say the brick & mortar was opened as a way to provide their daughter, Caroline, and other kids in the community a safe environment to explore and develop.

“It focuses around our daughter here, who is on the spectrum, but it focuses around people on the spectrum, special needs kids, but really, any children,” said David Ullsperger.

For local mother, Janielle Bell, and her three boys, this new gym has lots to offer to keep them all entertained.

“It gave me goosebumps walking in and knowing that they were so welcomed by so many different people,” Bell explained. “It’s just so fantastic, and it feels so comfortable.”

Janielle’s son, Sean, says he wants to keep coming back and has high hopes for the gym.

“This place has everything I could imagine, and I can’t wait to see the future of it, because it’s amazing and I hope it gets more amazing,” Sean said.

Anyone is welcome to try the new location.

The gym features 12 different types of equipment that helps children develop physically and mentally.

For instance, the zip line has several beneficial components.

The movement of the zipline helps children develop sensory feedback, while also improving their core and upper arm strength.

There is also a calming room if your child prefers a quieter environment.

“I can’t wait to bring them back here again,” Bell said.
