New gym opening for kids on autism spectrum – JC Online

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — For families of children with autism, social stigma against their children can limit their opportunities to go out and have fun.

A new gym franchise aims to provide a healthy and enjoyable experience to children both on and off the autism spectrum.

We Rock the Spectrum is a nationwide company that makes available gym equipment friendly to the sensory needs of children with autism — such as trampolines, zip lines and different kinds of swings.

My Brother Rocks the Spectrum is the non-profit wing of the group, which helps raise funds for the establishment of new gyms and helps pay gym usage fees for low income families that apply. Meagan Carrero, owner of the new Lafayette franchise, held a fundraiser last August at the Moses Fowler House.
