STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — James and Adrienne Grosso want We Rock the Spectrum to be more than just a sensory gym for children with special needs.

The gym, which opened in December, will be partnering with Autism Speaks to host the annual walk kick-off event on Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“By hosting the kick-off event at We Rock the Spectrum, parents can bring their kids and have them play while they pick up walk materials for the walk, create teams, register as walkers and speak to committee members,” James Grosso said.

The Staten Island Autism Speaks Walk will be held on Oct. 22 at the College of Staten Island.

In addition to the kick-off event, the Grosso’s will also host a Special Needs Resource Fair later in the day from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
