Described by his mother as usually “very high energy,” James Novacek planted himself behind a therapeutic puppet house designed for children with autism and spent several minutes quietly performing for an imaginary audience. James, 8, who has autism, is Mary Novacek’s older son. “I have another one chasing people around,” the Simi Valley mom said of 4-year-old Timmy, who also has autism. It’s perfectly OK to play chase and run around at We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym, an all-inclusive children’s facility, which held a grand opening Jan. 9 for its new Simi Valley location at 2888 Cochran Ave.
